With summer vacation starting soon and the warm weather finally hitting us, now is the perfect time to instead stay inside and play some great video games. This summer release schedule is already looking pretty packed with some great remakes and new releases on every console. Today we’ll take a look at the top games to look out for in June 2021.
Guilty Gear -STRIVE-

Platforms: Arcade/PS4/PS5/Windows
Release Date: June 11th, 2021
DUEL 1! LET’S ROCK!
The Guilty Gear team has really outdone themselves this time. With an updated look, story, character design, and sporting Unreal Engine 4, this is looking to be the best in the franchise.
One of the coolest things that they’ve done with the game is their upgrade to the overall atmosphere. While most fighting game stages are pretty linear, GGS turned everything on its head by having the stages react to your fights. This means when you knock someone away, they actually get blown to another part of the stage.
So dust off your Arcade Sticks and plug in your headphones for the great music as GGS doesn’t look like it will disappoint.
Zombies Ate My Neighbors & Ghoul Patrol

Platforms: Nintendo Switch/XBO/PS4/Windows
Release Date: June 29th, 2021
When my brother first bought Zombies Ate My Neighbors, I was skeptical. It looked like just another run and gun game with mediocre graphics. And boy was I wrong.
This game was not only fun but had a charm that kept you both engaged and entertained. Often spoofing zombie and horror tropes, the game was quirky like Psychonauts.
Best of all, the game was 2p co-op. This makes the game even more enjoyable as you can both make fun of and experience and cry at the later level difficulties together.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

Platforms: PS5
Release Date: June 10th, 2021
The Final Fantasy franchise is big. Really, really big. With multiple games, over multiple consoles, and multiple remakes, it can be forgiven if you lose tracks of which game is on which system and when it was released.
The Final Fantasy 7 remake originally came out in April 2020 for the PS4. The PS5 version coming out this June however looks to be what the version they originally wanted. With the enhanced graphics, new game modes, side missions, and a Yuffie focused story line, this game is shaping up to be a more complete version compared to the PS4.
This does beg the question of what was the point of the PS4 version if this is 80% the same game. To those that were waiting on a great game to come out on the PS5, this is shaping up to be the one.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Platforms: PS5
Release Date: June 11th, 2021
With over a dozen games in the franchise, Ratchet & Clank has been shooting and blowing up bots since it’s PS2 days. With a large story and plenty of colorful characters, Rift Apart looks to take the good from it’s previous installments and enhance them with the Kinetica engine.
A lot of the fun from these games are from the characters, the dialogue, and most importantly the action. The different types of guns are fun to use and some of the character interactions will have you laughing. I fully recommend this game for anyone looking for some honest and offbeat fun.
Mario Golf: Super Rush

Platforms: Nintendo Switch
Release Date: June 25th, 2021
Mario is undoubtedly the king of video game mascots. He also seems to be a master of everything as he’s been involved with everything like tennis, kart racing, painting, and even golf.
Now Mario Golf isn’t anything new. In fact, the first Mario Golf game, appropriately titled ‘Golf’, was confirmed to have Mario as the main character. What sets this version apart from the others is the new game mode called ‘Speed Golf’.
This small but fun enhancement really brings out one of the most important parts of Mario games; the multiplayer factor. By allowing all players to play (and fight) simultaneously, this turns the purely golf skill game into one that can really draw in more casual fans.
