To keep you playing, Nintendo added various unlockables & secrets to Star Fox 64 that really tested your skills.
For medals, there’s really only three important unlockables.
- To unlock expert mode, you need to earn a medal on all 15 levels in normal mode
- Earning a medal on Venom in normal mode unlocks tank combat in versus mode
- Earning a medal on Venom in expert mode unlocks bazooka combat in versus mode
But how many points do you need on each level to earn a medal?

Most of the medals are fairly straighforward to get but just require some practice. Thankfully, you can redo missions as long as you have lives by pressing start and clicking “Retry Mission”.
